Fresh out of an early Maine estate collection.
Early 19thc, antique Chinese lacquer writing box. Measures approximately 14 1/8" x 12 3/8" x 3 1/8". The lift-up cover elaborately decorated. The cover opens to form a writing slope with inset red velvet, a hinged cover reveals a compartment where pens and inkwell were stored. The writing box has a black lacquered base and interior and is not marked. It is missing the covers to the interior, hinges remain. Has the original lock, no key. Shows wear, crack and small hole at bottom. Selling as is. Please see photos as to type and condition. Rare.
