    Description

Pair of very unusual and highly impressive antique from possibly the Art Deco period Long Dangle Black teardrop earrings.
The earrings have the antique screw back closure for non pierced ears and they are in very good condition considering their age.
The metal work mount holding the  huge black teardrop, is very dark brown with beautiful etched designs and almost black on the upper area at the filigree openwork bead.
In our pictures, because of the flash, the metal work appears lighter that it really is in person.
We did not attempt cleaning the metalwork and so this is how they look right now.
The two faceted black glass beads are in good condition.
The huge black teardrop on the bottom is also in very good condition.
We are not sure however, as to what material this part is made of. It could be glass but we are not sure of that, but it also looks like it could be whitby jet.
We think the earrings are possibly Czechoslovakian, based on their workmanship but because they are not marked we cannot really confirm that.
Very impressive and unusually large, well made and rare earrings that we have never seen before.
Total length from top of the screw to the bottom of the teardrop ball is 4 1/4"
The last section of the earrings with metal cup and teardrop ball is 1 3/4" long.
