    This listing is for 1 package containing 2 filters (one complete set) Vacuum Sealed/Perfect & Unopened

    These Primary Filters (M41/M61) are designed to work with the Avon M50 Protective Gas Mask & utilize a proprietary connection type. NOTE:  These cannot be used with the any mask other than the M50;  Will
    NOT
    work with C50, S10, FM12, FM53, M53, PCM50, etc.
    Avon Protection has designed these to fit tightly against the facepiece with absolutely no gaps between the filter and surface of the gasmask.  The idea is to replace a standard single filter configuration with a split filter canister solution that divides the weight between the 2 sides & reduces breathing resistance.  Many see this as an improvement (which ultimately it is, however, you lose the ability to utilize standard 40mm NATO filter canisters which are most readily available) ...not really a problem when you simply grab a new set as needed from the military supply truck, but could be a major problem during an emergency when these become nearly impossible to obtain (by anyone other than US Military personnel).
    * Test Date(s) Information / Details
    :
    When vaccum sealed in the heavy green foil w/plastic laminate, these should be good for 10+ years when stored properly...  For that reason, the US Military does not require an exact expiration date on the package, instead opting for the inclusion of both the MFG DATE & INSP/TEST DATE, which is typically a conservative 5 years from the original date of manufacture.  At that point, the procedure is to test a random sampling of that batch to confirm their effectiveness (thats the TEST), and to inspect the packaging to make sure they are still sealed with not cuts or tears in the protective packaging, etc. (thats the INSP) / inspect part.
    After the inspection & test of several sets from their stock (of that exact batch), they then will either provide a new test/insp date (to go thru all that again), and/or provide an assessment notice of their estimated service life.  Typically we see them extend the official useful life by another 5 years before doing it again; We've seen many types of personal protective equipment based on activated/impregnated carbon get extended from a 4 year life to 14 years (or more).  So, keep them sealed & protected from cuts/abrasions so the seal stays effective, protected from sunlight & in a cool dry location.  Under those conditions, its probably reasonable to expect an effective life of 15+ years.
    Current stock includes test dates from 2016, all orders will be filled from inventory & will not have test dates prior to 2016.  Based on the above information, these should be effective to approximately 2026.
