Description
Hollow cathode lamps are metal-vapor discharge lamps developed for analysis by atomic absorption spectroscopy. This analysis requires a special lamp for each element to be measured. The lamps have a special design, described in Wikipedia. A thorough list of different chemical elements and their spectral lines generated by the hollow cathode lamps is given by Hamamatsu's sites. This particular lamp is vintage and was made in former East Germany, years 70', by the bulb company NARVA, today part of Philips. The lamp type is FeHK, its specific element is iron (Fe)and has its maximum of the absorption analysis line at 248.33 nm, and another line at 371.99 nm, both in ultraviolet (after Hamamatsu site). The lamp is new,in pristine condition, never used, with original, opened box. It is intended for spectroscopic laboratories, or as a vintage, collectible item.
